What makes the Sugar Diva experience so unique?
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to recreate a special life moment, capture an extra special vibe or style you’ve had for your portrait session, or maybe you just want a photography session that doesn’t feel so awkward and impersonal! Let’s face it…getting your photos taken is AWKWARD! That is exactly what I aim to change for you. By connecting with my clients prior to our session allows us to dive deeper into your personal story, get the small talk out of the way, and truly connect for a customized collaborative event.
My goal is to capture your authenticity, your vibe and beauty of those special moments. I believe that being more than a stranger upon our initial session, allows my clients to feel more comfortable in front of the lens, even if some of the poses and prompts seem silly or awkward, sometimes that helps bring out real laughter and smiles!
Before your session…
…Let’s chat!
The first step…you have already begun! Welcome! And thank you for checking out my website for more info.
The next step is to request an appointment from my booking form! Then, I contact you to schedule a pre-session consultation (if you choose this option) to talk details, go over my contract, the booking process, what’s inlcuded, and prints and products offered. This allows us to cover more details about your upcoming session and get to know one another better!
During our consult, I send you your contract to sign and if not already paid, have you pay your booking fee. Once the contract is signed & fee paid, our date is set. I also will send a digital style & preparation guide to help walk you through everything you need to prepare.
A month or two before your session, its time to “get dressed”! If selecting outfits and getting everything to coordinate is stressful, don’t worry! You have me on your side to reach out to for additional styling help if needed! I also provide websites, store suggestions, styling tips, and more all in your preparation guide! Just be sure to allow enough time for your outfits to arrive, if ordering online, and then try them on as soon as you receive them to ensure a good fit.
A week before, I will email you with the exact location/time we will meet, a reminder invoice to pay any outstanding session fees, and a list of things to bring to your session.
The day of the session, be sure to allow plenty of time and arrive 10 minutes early. Bring anything needed as covered in my email. For the littles, make sure they are fed (foods that don’t dye mouths and fingers), have had plenty of rest, and have baby wipes on hand for noses and messes. And don’t forget to pay any outstanding invoice balances.
During your session…
…here’s what you can expect!
Now that we’ve made it to your session date, the fun begins! Come prepared to laugh, hike, snuggle, hug and smile. And just maybe dance…a little!
For In-Home sessions, I will arrive to your home, at the discussed time for setup, and install the set in a space within your home that works best. I will work through various poses& prompts capturing a mix of posed and natural moments as they unfold.
For On-Location sessions, I will arrive early to scout exact spots ahead of time, and have a general “plan” for where we will go. Then, through a series of prompts, poses and explorative hikes, I will begin to document the moments as they unfold. Your gallery will include a mix of both posed, and natural moments. For parents, my biggest tip…DO NOT STRESS. I love photographing the littles, and I know they may not always be “in the mood”, so if they are fussy, don’t worry. I work with the littles, playing with them, being silly, or just by letting them explore or have a break…whatever they need to help them be comfortable so that we can capture those memories.
What you can expect is for me to be lying on my stomach in the dirt or weeds, climbing ladders, hiding behind bushes and trees, singing baby shark on repeat, and telling you to do silly things like “sniff your shoulder”, and “show me your best catwalk”. Or sometimes, I will simply tell you to forget that I’m even there. I also try to come as prepared for the weather & location conditions like bringing tick/bug spray if needed, and additional posing props, etc as needed and to always keep your safety and comfort in mind!
After your session…
…hardest part begins.
After your session wraps up, I get to work editing all your beautiful images! Depending on the time of year, it can take anywhere from two weeks to six weeks to fully edit your images and upload them to your online client gallery. During my busy season, edits can take a bit longer as I may have a lot of galleries to edit, and sessions booked. I do my best to wrap up each session in a timely manner, without compromising on quality. While you wait, if you would like to see previews of your session, I often post sneak peeks on my social media! I will also post my gallery edits to-do list on stories when I get backed up! Once you’ve received your gallery link in your email inbox, head to your client gallery! From my user friendly online gallery, you can favorite your images, & share your entire gallery with family, friends, or on Facebook! Want to change your profile photos, or share photos directly to your social media? Be sure to download your complimentary social media digital downloads (low-resolution images include watermark for sharing online and are NOT for printing).

How do you accept payments for booking fees, session payments and prints?
I offer my clients several different ways to pay;
BOOKING FEE PAYMENTS: I accept credit/debit card payments, gift certificates, checks by mail or at our in-person pre-session consultation, or PayPal & Venmo payment options. For Venmo & check payments, email me to set up those payment options.
SESSION FEE BALANCES/PAYMENTS: You can pay via debit/credit, gift certificate, PayPal, Venmo, check or cash on the day of our session. Please note: payments will need to be made in full on the day of our session.
GIFT CERTIFICATES: To purchase a gift certificate, you can purchase them via debit or credit card.
DIGITALS, PRINTS & PACKAGES: For my online print store products, there is only a couple ways to pay. That is via debit card or credit card. To purchase your digital downloads, printed photos, etc you will need to do so through my online client gallery store. I cannot accept payment via checks, cash or other for this.
